About this camp

Operating year-round, Camp Chief Hector YMCA offers a unique camping and outdoor education experience. While programs typically focus on youth through our summer camps and 3-season outdoor schools, Camp Chief Hector also offers weekend programs for adults and families, as well as meeting and event facilities.

All staff will need a clear Police Intervention Record Check. Where possible, have the police check include that you can work with vulnerable populations (we can supply a letter stating you will be working with them, if needed). You will also need a Canadian First Aid course (Standard First Aid, with CPR C, or greater).

Staff must obtain an IEC Working Holiday work permit.

Compensation

Counselors: $500-$600 CAD per week
Area Specialists/Activity Leads with special skills: $600- $800 CAD per week
Kitchen: $18-$20 CAD per hour
No room and board deductions – just taxes taken out. YMCA membership included for all staff.

Dates

Needs staff to start April 22nd for spring outdoor ed season (M-F with optional overtime weekends). Staff can come as early as January/February. Staff have the week of June 16-23 week off (unless taking specialized training) before the summer season begins June 24. Camp runs until August 26th (around the clock 6 days per week) and goes back to outdoor ed schedule Sept. 5 (M-F with optional overtime weekends).
