About this camp

Camp Homeward Bound (CHB) a residential camp provides homeless and formerly homeless children / youth a respite in a fun, safe and supportive community that fosters positive self-esteem building, personal development. Our programs include swimming, kayaking, biking, archery, yoga, music, cooking, art, video production and many others. We embrace and celebrate diversity at CHB. Many of our staff are former campers while other staff come from over 12 countries and 4-5 continents. Camp is located in beautiful Harriman State Park just 1 hour from NYC.

Counselors need to be least 18 years of age with at least a High School diploma. (Some college preferred) and have some experience working or volunteering with children/youth. Ideal candidates are individuals who are caring, playful and are looking for a challenge. Program instructors must have teaching or significant experience in the activity. We do provide training and certification in Lifeguard, swim instruction and archery to qualified candidates.
