Camp Mission & Philosophy:

Our mission is to provide each camper with a multi-faceted camp experience in a safe and supportive environment that promotes emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development. We aim to improve confidence and independence, provide the motivation to explore new opportunities, and develop leadership abilities, which collectively, foster a summer of personal growth, challenges, friendships, and adventure. Maine Teen Camp and its staff empower campers to make good choices and become successful community members and responsible young adults.

Established in 1984 as a specialty program for teenagers 13-17, Maine Teen Camp aims to provide each camper with a diverse camp experience in a safe and supportive environment that promotes a sense of community, friendship, personal growth and leadership. We believe the experiences and skills earned at camp have life changing impacts.

Independence, self confidence, social & leadership skills, stress management and resilience are well documented outcomes of a summer camp experience. While high priced “college prep” and Academic Enrichment programs shown little long term value, Maine Teen Camp retains a timeless air, a bubble apart from the mainstream.

What factors set this camp apart from other camps?

Maine Teen Camp offers the safety and community of a summer camp, but is more accepting than a traditional age ranged camp. Maine Teen Camp is the only accredited summer camp created exclusively for teenagers to enjoy a summer of meaning, fun, friendships and memories to last a lifetime.

MTC is a safe place for a teenager new to camping or changing camps to arrive as a first time camper and be immediately welcomed into an open social environment. Free of cliques and embracing individual diversity, MTC is different from teen travel programs, and also a lot different from much of the teen “scene” in the outside world. We recognize the experience of adolescence is unique and special, and demands developmentally appropriate, in depth, and specialized programming and staff training geared toward teenagers to make for the best camp experience. We also offer a fully elective schedule for every camper, so they can connect with campers each morning and afternoon in their age group apart from their cabin group as well as campers from difference ages, and co-ed throughout the day in small groups and as large groups.

What is unique about the experience campers receive:

We value and embrace diversity, inclusion among our core values. We believe that taking a break from devices (smartphones etc), when combined with prolonged time in nature, leads to profound physical and psychological benefits very camper will also enjoy Our smaller population allows each individual camper to feel in touch with the entire community and allows for easy and constant supervision.
