About this camp

Rockywold Deephaven Camps (RDC) is a remarkable retreat that was specifically created over a hundred years ago to provide a peaceful respite from the demands of our busy lives. The camps’ natural beauty and rustic ambiance will connect you with an experience that is hard to put into words. We have exquisite scenery made up of vintage cottages nestled along the shores of Squam Lake, one of New England’s most pristine lakes, and the southern edge of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. You may find, as we do, a unique family resort that calls your spirit home.

Food Service

Kitchen and Waitstaff: Kitchen and waitstaff employees work in the kitchens as well as the dining room. These employees assist in the setup, presentation, and serving of food from counters and steamtables. Duties include, but not limited to: Preparation and cleaning of dining halls before and after meals. Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work stations. Refilling food and drink stations during meals, scooping ice cream, wrapping silverware, washing dishes, removing trash and recycling.

Prep Cook: Prep cooks are the building blocks of a well-oiled kitchen doing the day-to-day tasks that are needed to allow the cooks to turn out perfect meals. Prep cooks do much of the preparation for the dishes that are served. This includes chopping vegetables, cutting or grinding meat, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, storing food, and more.

Cook: Our cooks accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of delicious hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All cooks follow established recipes and menu items change on a rotating basis. Cooks work closely with prep cooks to create first-rate meals for our guests and staff. Work includes operation of grills, ovens, stoves, and fryer.

Baker: Our bakers are skilled, creative, and are able to produce an assortment of baked goods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our bakers follow recipes and product directions to prepare items including decorations to enrich item presentation. Typical baked goods include breads, muffins, scones, sweet breads, cakes, cookies, fillings, icings, and glazes.

Housekeeping

RDC housekeepers are responsible for the general care and cleanliness of camp cottages and support facilities. Housekeeper duties include but are not limited to: thorough cleaning of cottages and common areas, bed-making, towel delivery, and checking for needed cottage maintenance and repair. Housekeepers work in work with a partner. Their morning consists of cottage services in the morning and cleaning of common areas and support facilities in the afternoon. The typical housekeeper shift is from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and they may be asked to work a evening shift once a week from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Laundry Staff

Laundry staff are responsible for the daily operations of the Camp’s laundry facility where all linens and towels as well as guest’s laundry are cleaned. Duties include but are not limited to: washing and drying all camp linens and towels. Folding all laundry and preparing it for transport to housekeeping facilities. RDC provides a guest laundry cleaning service in which laundry must be weighed, laundered, and billed to proper cottages.
